The two hanves represents the mythical and historical parts of the narrative. As the narrator speaks, the line animates as waves. When objects or characters come up with the narrative, the line shifts to form representations in the correspondin coloured half.
Silhouettes allow for simple shapes that are not specific shapes that are not specific to a character or object. They are also not detailes, and the simplicity ensures the narrative isn’t overpowered by the visuals.
